Signs That Suggest You Should End Your Current Relationship

Ending a relationship is never easy. In fact, it can be downright heartbreaking. Are you beginning to question whether or not your current relationship is right for you?

If you’re feeling lost, uncertain or unhappy in your relationship, it might be time to end things. While there is no simple answer, here are some signs that suggest it might be time to call it quits.

If you’re nodding along and see yourself in these points, it’s time to have a serious conversation with your partner about the future of your relationship. If you’re not comfortable doing that – then it’s probably time to move on. Before proceeding, also take a look at our previous post: Relationship Mistakes: We’ve All Been There for more insight.

6 Signs That Show You Should End Your Relationship

1. You no longer trust each other

If you have lost trust in your partner and no longer believe that they are being truthful or sincere, it might be time to end the relationship. Without trust, a relationship cannot survive. If you are constantly suspicious of your partner or feel like you can’t rely on them, it’s probably time to move on.

Trust is the key foundation of any successful relationship, so if it’s gone, there’s not much left to build on. If you’re having trouble rebuilding trust, it might be best to end things now rather than dragging out an unhappy union.

2. You’re no longer a priority

It can be difficult to admit, but if you’re no longer a priority in your partner’s life, it’s probably time to cease. No one deserves to be sidelined and ignored, especially when they’ve been nothing but loyal and supportive.

If you’ve been feeling neglected and unimportant, it’s time to have a serious conversation with your partner about the state of your relationship. If things don’t improve, it may be time to move on.

3. You feel like you’re always making more of an effort than your partner

In this case, ending the relationship would benefit both parties. Relationships involve a give and take; but if you are doing all the giving, then it’s not fair for you to keep making all the effort while getting little in return.

Most people enter into relationships expecting to share the workload equally, but often one person winds up doing more than their fair share.

It can lead to feelings of frustration and resentment. While it’s tempting to give up, before you let go of your relationship, there are things you can do to try and fix the imbalance.

First, talk to your partner about how you’re feeling. Be honest with them about what’s been going on, and ask them if they’re willing to put in more effort too. If they are unwilling or unable to do this, it may be time to move on.

4. You don’t feel as though your partner truly understands or values you

When you’re not feeling valued in your relationship, it can be hard to figure out what to do. If you have been in a relationship for a while and feel as though your partner does not understand or value you, it might be time to end things.

Remember, you are worth more than someone who does not appreciate you. You deserve to be with someone who loves and values you for who you are. Don’t hesitate to end things if that is what feels best for you.

5. Your partner routinely ignores your needs and desires

There’s no doubt that a healthy relationship is one in which both partners are attentive to each other’s needs and desires. If your partner routinely ignores your needs and refuses to meet your emotional or physical needs, it might be the time to end the relationship.

It’s vital that your partner listens and values what you have to say. If they can’t or won’t do that, they’re not worth your time. Don’t be afraid to move on and find someone who will appreciate you.

6. You rarely spend time together

When your partner stops making an effort to spend time together, it usually means the relationship is in trouble. They may have lost interest in the relationship. You may start to feel like you’re drifting apart or that your relationship is no longer as strong as it used to be. If this sounds like your situation, it may be time to move on.

While breaking up is never easy, sometimes it’s the best thing for both parties involved. If you’re wondering if it might be time to end your current relationship – take a look at these six signs. If three or more of these signs resonate with you, it may be time to have that tough conversation and move on.
